Papier Maché Dolls:
Papier Maché dolls are among the earliest types of
commercially manufactured dolls. They were made by pressing together
sheets of paper with wood or rag fibers added for strength.
By the early 1800s German manufacturers were mass-producing
papier maché dolls. They used molds and a high-pressure process to
form doll parts. The papier maché production process gradually
evolved into the process used to produce composition dolls.
