Board Games:

Board games have long been popular in the United States. They appeared in New York City newspaper advertisements as early as 1819. Board games truly caught on in 1843 with the introduction of Dr. Busby, the first board game to sweep the country. Following Dr. Busby's success, board games were produced to represent nearly every important military and political event of the 19th century (1800s). The games displayed here date from the late 19th century to the 1950s.
