The Worthingtons Thomas Sr. Eleanor Sr. Mary Sarah James Albert Thomas Jr. Ellen Margaret Elizabeth William Francis |
The WorthingtonsYou are invited to choose one of the Worthingtons and explore his or her life through the
Worthington family web pages. You may select the family member from the link bar above or to the left. The Worthingtons were a
caring, loving, family. They were concerned with each other's welfare though often separated by miles and in
contact only by letter. It is because of the existence of these letters that we are able to get a glimpse of
their personalities, lives, and relationships. Was the Worthington family much different from other families of their time? In many ways not. You will probably find many of their concerns familiar. Three things about the Worthington family are not typical of their time: all ten children lived to maturity (and their mother did not die in child birth) the emphasis in the family on education, even for the girls and, of course, their wealth. | ||
