How Did the Paint Colors at Adena Change?

The scratch and match method worked pretty well. What they found to be pink or green is still pink and green. But the old method did not take into account fading and other changes that occur in old paint over time.

The new colors are generally brighter than the old.

Detail of Dining Room paint

The Dining Room and the Family Parlor were the only rooms at Adena with painted walls. Most walls at Adena were whitewashed (where they did not have wallpaper). The pink and green combination in the Dining Room was a typical of the fashion in the early 1800s.
