FRANCIS WORTHINGTON (1819 - 1849)

"Bearing healing and cheerful words"

Frances (Frank) was the youngest child of Thomas and Eleanor Worthington. He was named after the founding Bishop of American Methodism (and frequent Adena houseguest) Francis Asbury.

In the years immediately after Thomas Worthington's death in 1827, Frank, and his older brother William, received little discipline or training. When Frank was in his teens, his older sister, Sarah Worthington King, took him to Massachusetts where he was educated at Harvard University, along with Sarah's two sons. Frank later attended medical school and became a respected and well loved physician in Cincinnati. His success proved his undoing-Frank became ill while caring for patients during an epidemic and died soon after.
